Privacy Policy
Information we collect
None. Groov has no user accounts, no sign-up or sign-in, and no analytics service. We operate no servers, so there is nowhere for your personal information to be sent. We cannot identify you, and we never see your gameplay.
Information stored on your device
Groov saves the following locally, so your progress and preferences survive between sessions:
- Game history, scores and streaks
- Songs you favourite, like or dislike, and the taste preferences derived from them
- Unfinished games you can resume
- Your settings, such as genre filters, era range, difficulty and interaction mode
This never leaves your phone. Deleting Groov erases all of it permanently.
Apple Music
If you choose to connect Apple Music, Groov asks iOS for permission to read your music library so it can build song decks from music you already own, and to play full-length tracks. This happens entirely on your device through Apple's MusicKit framework. We never receive, store or transmit your library, your listening history, or your Apple account details. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings, and Groov will fall back to short preview clips.
Third-party music services
To find songs and stream preview clips, Groov sends search requests — such as a song title, artist name or genre — to the following services. It never sends anything that identifies you. As with any internet request, these providers can see your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply to that:
- Apple — the iTunes Search API, for song metadata, artwork and previews
- Deezer — for preview audio and artwork
- Last.fm — for genre tags and similar-artist suggestions
What we never do
- We do not sell or share your data, because we do not have any
- We do not show advertising or use advertising identifiers
- We do not track you across apps or websites
- We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
Children
Groov is suitable for ages 9 and up. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. Note that song previews come from public music catalogues and are not filtered for explicit lyrics.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Groov after that means you accept the revised policy.
